Congratulations! You’re about to become a parent to a beautiful, new baby. You’re probably ready with bottles, diapers, and onesies galore; but how’s your home looking? Make sure to prep your house for your new little one before he or she arrives.
Baby-Proof Your Home: Every room holds new dangers that could harm your baby. In your nursery, keep your baby’s bed clear. While all of those fuzzy stuffed animals and embroidered pillows look cute, they could easily pose a suffocating hazard. Install a baby monitor so you can keep an eye on your little one as well. Fit your lower cabinets and appliances with child-proof locks, and place no-slip mats on any slick surfaces like your bathroom floor.
Do Some Spring Cleaning: Dust all your furniture, and wipe down window blinds. Vacuum your carpets and upholstered materials, such as couches or lampshades, to remove as much dirt as possible. Mop all hardwood or tiled floors, and give your sinks, showers, bathtubs, and toilets a good scrubbing.
Check Your Air Quality: After you’ve done all this baby-proofing and cleaning, you don’t want to have your baby breathe in poor-quality air, do you? Even after cleaning every surface of your house, you could still be putting dust and other allergy-inducing particles into the air by way of your HVAC system. Call your trusted HVAC technician to have your home inspected for poor air quality.
