Fitbit named A.B. May one of The 100 Healthiest Places to Work (a finalist in the Comprehensive Wellness Plan category). A.B. May has received other mentions for our healthy work environment, just recently receiving a KC Wellness Certification at the highest level.
At A.B. May, our approach to health isn't just about fitness. Our wellness program focuses on whole person development, broken down into five main focuses: Social, Purpose (career), Community, Physical, and Financial. Our employees are given opportunities to pursue health in a wide variety of ways. Below are examples of how A.B. May put their employees health first:
Healthy Eating Options
Eating well is made easy at A.B. May. Our market is filled with subsidized healthy options for snacking and meals, including fresh salads and sandwiches delivered daily. A full on-site kitchen and fresh fruit delivery make it easy to whip up something healthy or store a lunch from home.
Our employees are encouraged to use our on-site gym. They can work out on their own or join in on one of many scheduled classes, like yoga or kickboxing. Many employees find work-out buddies with coworkers, and commit to working out together a few times a week. It's a great way to blow off steam while spending time with your friends at work.
Family Friendly Activities on Days Off
Everyone needs to have fun and blow off steam. A.B. May sponsors a day for employees and their families to attend Worlds of Fun. Entry and food is free of charge for the whole family!
A.B. May offers classes for employees that cover a wide array of topics, from finances to resilience. We also hold blood drives, canned food drives, and participate in a number of non-profits around the Kansas City area. For example, employees meet with students from Eastwood Hills School District once a week during their lunch break. They build relationships, trust, and community with students that need role models in their lives. A.B. May firmly believes that giving to others will make us better and happier people, and every employee is given an opportunity to do just that.
