Give Your Water Heater a Thank you by taking care of it

On some days there is nothing like a hot shower.  I remember being on vacation once, and it was cold and rainy.  Since we were on vacation in a new spot, we braved the weather and went and explored anyways.  Unfortunately all that really happened was, we got poured on.  By the time we got back we were soaked through and all we wanted was a hot shower.  It felt sooo nice.  A hot shower can sometimes be the perfect rejuvenation remedy.  However, in order to be sure that hot water is always available to you, it is important to continually maintain your hot water heater.  Here are some ways how:

  • Have a professional routinely inspect the hot water heater every two years or so.  By making a habit of this, problems can be easily fixed before they become very large fixes.

  • Perhaps you did not know, but sediment builds up on the bottom of your hot water tank on the burners.  That means that the water tank must heat through the sediment before the heat reaches the water.  This unfortunately, wastes energy and money.

  • The anode rod is a part of your hot water heater system that is located in the tank.  It acts as a "body guard" for the tank because it gets "beaten up" by water corrosions and protects the tank itself.
