October Checklist from the Weather Channel

Your October checklist might look a little something like this...:

  • Buy Pumpkins
  • Carve pumpkins
  • Buy candy for trick or treaters
  • Shop for Halloween costumes
  • Buy more candy for trick or treaters because your family has already eaten it all

Does that sound familiar?  Well, believe it or not, amongst all of the hustle and bustle of October, your home needs some care too.  The Weather Channel published a slightly different checklist than the one above to help you get your home ready for fall and winter.  Here are the Weather Channel's October Home Tasks:

  • Detach hoses in case of freezing temperatures.  Remove all paints, caulks and liquid materials from garage or garden sheds
  • Inspect weather stripping around doors and windows and repair or replace if necessary.  Learn more about caulking and weatherstripping.
  • Set thermostats and automatic sprinklers for winter.  Clean gutters after leaves have fallen.  Make sure downspouts are in good repair.
  • Check gages on home fire extinguishers to endure a full charge.  Replace if necessary (the Weather Channel)

Also, don't forget that October is a great time to schedule your furnace maintenance,  if you haven't done so already!  Looking for more info?  Contact A.B. May!
