As the year rolls on, you’re probably very ready for spring to arrive. Well, at least in your mind you are. How’s your home looking? There are some maintenance items you should take care of before spring arrives so you can fully enjoy the warm weather without having to worry about your home.
Outside Your Home
Gutters: Clear out any debris from your gutters so spring rain can flow away from your home.
Roof: Check your roof for missing shingles or any damaged spots that may have been caused by winter snow or ice. Pro Tip: It’s usually cheaper to have your roof fixed while it’s still cold outside.
Driveways and Walkways: Look for and repair any cracks that may have been formed during winter so no harm comes to you or your car tires.
Lawn Equipment: Make sure your mowers and tractors are gassed up and properly oiled so you’re ready to keep your front yard looking beautiful.
Inside Your Home
Furnace: Check and replace your furnace filters so your unit runs efficiently.
Smoke Detectors: Inspect your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are still properly working. Test them monthly and have them installed in each bedroom, in the hallways outside the bedrooms, and on every floor.
Electrical Work: Check all of your electrical outlets and cords to make sure they function properly and are not damaged. You should also have your fuse boxes and extension cords inspected to ensure they’re not being overloaded.
