What To Do Before Turning On Your Central Air Conditioner
Thursday, April 14, 2016
It's that time of year again--time to fire up your central air conditioner! There are some steps you should take prior to doing so. Keep reading to find out what they are.
Inspect The Air Conditioner
You will want to inspect your air conditioning system from top to bottom. It is important to check the fan and coils in the outdoor condenser box for damage. Have any damaged parts repaired in a timely manner. It is also a good idea to clean and remove any debris from the outdoor condenser box.
Change The Air Filter
An old, dirty air filter in your air conditioner will only prohibit airflow. To prevent this, be sure to change the air filter. Remember to clean or change the air filter on a regular basis.
Check The Duct Work
Leaky duct work will work against the efforts of your air conditioner. In other words, it is counter-productive. To avoid this, make sure that your duct work is in good shape. If you spot any tears or rips, have it patched up by a professional.
Put Batteries In The Thermostat
The changing of the seasons will also change the way you program your thermostat. In order for your thermostat to work properly, remember to change its batteries.
