We've all been there--that moment when you panic because the toilet is overflowing. While it's completely normal to panic, it definitely will not help the situation. If you find yourself in this situation, follow the tips below.
Step 1: Turn the Water Off
First, locate the toilet's main shutoff valve. It is usually located at the base of the toilet. Once you've turned it off, be sure to clean up and disinfect any water that is on the floor.
Step 2: Use a Plunger
If you are certain that an item is causing the clog, use the plunger to dislodge it. Put the funnel cup of the plunger over the drain hole. Thrust the plunger continuously until item has been dislodged.
