What is System Zoning?
System Zoning is multiple thermostats wired to a control panel which operates dampers within the ductwork of your forced air system. The thermostats will consistently read the temperatures of their specific zone, and then the dampers within the ductwork will open or close according to the thermostat's settings. When properly used, system zoning will help save money on your utility bills. According to the US Department of Energy, "system zoning can save homeowners up to 30% on a typical heating and cooling bill." For example, the guest room that is rarely used can have the damper closed and the door shut so that you are not cooling a room that does not require constant cooling.
If you are interested in system zoning, you can contact us and we will schedule a free estimate to asses if system zoning is a good fit for your home. We also recommend that you take advantage of the $49 Home Performance Evaluation (for a limited time only). With the evaluation, one of our home performance experts will navigate throughout your house to determine where you are losing air, if you need additional insulation, and how you can create a more energy efficient home.
