Tips That Will Help You Get The Most Out Of Your Programmable Thermostat

Friday, December 4, 2015

During the chilly fall and winter months, you may find yourself constantly adjusting your thermostat. Fortunately, there is an easier way.  Below are some tips that will help you get the most out of a programmable thermostat.

  • Your thermostat should not be installed near heat generating appliances, open doorways and in direct sunlight.
  • Thermostats should be installed in each zone of a zoned HVAC system.
  • Set your thermostat to 68 degrees in the winter. It will keep you and your family comfortable while helping you save money on your heating costs.
  • Remember to change the batteries in a battery powered thermostat at least once a year.
  • Have a consistent temperature for different parts of the day. It is a good idea to have a constant temperature for when you are at work, and another temperature for when you are asleep.
  • Do not override the settings. After all, it will cost you each time you do it.
  • Before you go on a vacation, set your thermostat to a constant temperature.
